Facelift Surgery (7 Days beauty getaway)

2 Nights Hospital's Private Room / 4 Nights Hotel Accomodation

The Operation: Facelift surgery is a major cosmetic surgery done under general anaesthesia in our affiliated hospitals in Thailand. You will be admitted in the hospital’s private room and operated on the same day with 2 nights of hospitalisation. The facelift surgery usually takes 2-3 hours however you will be observed for an hour in the recovery room until stable. A small, thin drainage tube is occasionally placed under the skin behind the ears to drain any blood that might collect there that will be removed the day after. The head is wrapped loosely in bandages to minimize bruising and swelling. After your facelift surgery, you will be given a potent intravenous painkiller continuously. Some patients are sensitive to the painkiller and might develop nausea so please inform our nursing staff once you wake up feeling sick in the room.      

The Incision Site: Your plastic surgeon makes the incision above the hairline at the temples, behind the ear lobes to the lower scalp. When the neck needs work, a small incision may also be made under the chin. The surgeon separates the skin from the fat and muscle below. Fat may be trimmed or suctioned from around the neck and chin to improve the contour. Then, your plastic surgeon tightens the underlying muscle, pulls the skin back and removes the excess. Stitches secure the layer and close the incisions; metal clips may be used on the scalp.

      The Preparation Before Operation:

  • 2 Weeks Before: Stop smoking well in advance of surgery. Stop taking Aspirin, Herbal or diet supplements and certain anti-inflammatory drugs as taking these substances can cause increase bleeding.  
  • On Consultation Day: Prepare for medical check up, physical exam and discuss expectations, your medical history such as any drug or food allergies, underlying medical conditions and on-going medical treatments to the plastic surgeon. The surgeon may take photographs before and after surgery and keep the photos in your medical record.
  •  24 hours and 12 hours Before: Wash neck and face with anti-bacterial soap and let it lather for 10 minutes before rinsing on the night before and in the morning of your surgery.
  • 8 hours Before Operation: No food or drink, take off jewelries, nail colors on hands & feet

 

      The Preparation After Operation:

 

·        24 - 48 hours after Operation: The head is elevated on two pillows (or at a 30 degree angle) for a couple of days after surgery to keep the swelling down. Swellings are soothed with cooling pads in the first 24-48 hours. Usually, there is not much discomfort after surgery and pain medication can relieve it. Some numbness of the skin is normal and will disappear in a few weeks or months.

 

·        On the 3rd Day: Your wound will be dressed, bandage and drains will be taken out and you will be discharged from the hospital when you are feeling well.

 

·        On Discharge: You will be given a written instruction on when to take your antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and analgesic pills and you’ll be advised on the date of your follow-up visit.

 

·        5 - 7 days After: Your follow-up visit and removal of stitches/metal clips. You are expected to stay in Phuket for at least 7 – 10 days to recuperate well.

 

·        1st – 2nd Week After: You will be asked to avoid swimming and only light exercise. Pain may vary however can be controlled by medications. Do not wear earrings for at least 2 weeks.

 

·        4 – 6 weeks After: Temporary discomfort, swelling, pain, bruise, numbness and skin tenderness. For face lifts incisions needs to be protected from direct sunlight for 3 months.
