5 Nights Hospital’s Private Room and 4 Nights Hotel
The Operation: Abdominoplasty also known as the "tummy tuck" is an operation performed to treat extremely loose and flabby abdominal skin and muscle, usually following massive weight gain and weight loss. Abdominoplasty can be helpful when diet and exercise failed to correct severe muscle weakness which may occur after multiple pregnancies. The tummy tuck surgery usually takes 4- 6 hours however you will be observed in the recovery room for an hour or two until stable before being moved back to your private room.
After the operation, an abdominal binder will be worn on the patient with drains on both sides of the operative site. You will have to lie on the back with both legs and hips bent to relieve the tension on the abdominal wound closure. The patient should remain in this position overnight. There might be an indwelling Foley catheter used to monitor the urine outflow and left in placed over night. Moreover, you will be given a potent intravenous painkiller continuously. Some patients are sensitive to the painkiller and might develop nausea so please inform our nursing staff once you wake up feeling sick in the room.
The Incision Site: In tummy tuck operation, a horizontal incision is placed just within or above the pubic area. The length of the incision, which extends laterally toward the pelvic bones, depends largely on the amount of skin to be removed. Your plastic surgeon will try to keep the incision within your bathing suit lines; however, this may not always be possible. When there is loose skin above the navel, the surgeon may make a second incision around the navel to pull the skin downward then remove the excess skin. To tighten the abdominal wall, the surgeon brings loose underlying tissue and muscle together with sutures.
